Xhilaration from Target
I mentioned in an earlier blog that The Dane had to take a business trip to Texas and I was left up to my own devices. During that time, I spent an evening looking/shopping at Target. I think I mentioned that I came in behind a lady who walked over to the Who What Wear section and then later, I spotted her in the Junior section.
This particular lady led to me buying a few items from Who What Wear, but what I never expected was that she’d lead me into the area I previously thought of as the ‘junior’ section. I saw her put a few items of clothing in her cart and head to the dressing room. Curious, I stuck a toe into territory I only venture into with the girls. Now, I have to interject here that I do own a couple of pieces from the Xhilaration collection, so I feel I must explain a bit.
I suppose most Target’s are set up about the same way, but as I have one in particular that I shop, I’m not that familiar with what it’s like in other stores. Our store, moves things toward the back as they are marked down and then finally they end up in the way back on a clearance rack. The clearance rack is near the plus section. I normally shop both of them as if they are just one area. If the girls aren’t with me, I don’t enter the front part much, I just head on to the back like a good little plus-sized girl.
This lady gave me permission to go into this section and look around. It surprised me to find that there was way more plus-size in this section than I expected. For the most part, most of the plus in this section is possibly geared toward teens and young women; however, there were lots of business causal options as well.
Along with being plus-sized, I’m also short, so I have to look for petite specifically. What I found in the ‘junior section’ was that I can finally buy a dress that I don’t have to have hemmed. Now that said, I do have to watch where the hemlines hit as an inch shorter and this would be out of my comfort zone.
I am loving all the statement sleeves that are in fashion this year. Almost everything I got for Christmas ended up having them.
This dress struck my fancy because I believe it can be worn as a day dress or for a date night. It’s a fit-and-flare made with a soft velvet weave from 100% Polyester. It is machine washable and tumble dry. It comes in sizes S to XXL. The size chart is listed in junior sizes, so pay attention to the measurements if ordering online. The XXL (listed as Size 19) is 43.5 (bust) x 38.5 (waist). For reference, a Lane Bryant size 16 is 44 (bust) by 38 (waist) and a 14 is 42 (bust) by 36 waist.
Lately, we’ve been getting some pretty unseasonably cold weather. We even got a little snow before Christmas. Family living off 85 near Atlanta got 4 inches or more in Georgia. In my lifetime, I have never seen it snow before Christmas (actually, we rarely get snow. What we get is this sleet/icy mix that freezes and causes black ice). I paired the dress with a pair of tights for warmth.
Overall, I really do like the fit of the Xhilaration dresses and I’m very excited about being able to browse around the entire clothing section at Target.
