I know the song says not to go chasing waterfalls, but I can’t help it, it’s in my nature.
It wasn’t always. There was a time when I went to school, to work and came home to study until I finally fell into bed for a few hours sleep, only to get up the next morning and do it all over again.
I remember back then thinking, one of these days it’s all going to be worth it.
Finally, it feels that the time has come. The kids are grown with kids of their own (well, most of them anyway). Now feels like the time for The Dane and I to enjoy each other and explore.
Luckily, both of us love photography and hiking. It usually doesn’t take much for me to talk him into grabbing the camera and for us to head off to the next place I’ve found.
On this particularly outing, we were sort of driving around enjoying a little more light in the evening when we came across this dam near an old textile mill. We could tell that a patch of ground had been cleared recently to make a beach area for the upcoming summer where there will be swimmers enjoying all this.
On this particular evening, there was no one around and the light was getting very low. We weren’t sure we had quite enough left to do a shoot, but we decided to try anyway.
The weather has turned chillier, so I raided my leggings drawer for a pair of fleece-lined leggings that I bought at Walmart a few years ago. They were just enough warmth for the temperature. It’s a plus that they are soft and comfortable.
While I was shooting, I caught a heron slightly out of focus. He landed just across the water and we ended up sitting on the rocks and watching him for a while. I have to say, I enjoy sitting on the rocks and watching birds a heck of a lot more than all that studying back in the day.
Hope you are off to a wonderful week.
Tell your Mama and ’em I said hey!
