The Big List of Plus Size Shopping – F is for Fairies
Fantasie is a lingerie line that is produced by Wacoal Europe. Their expertise is in making underwear that is well-made for large cup sizes. They produce: Wacoal, Fantasie, Freya, Elomi, b.tempt’d, and Goddess. Fantasie is good if you are between a 32-40 band and some of the items do go up to a 44FF. This site shows the collection and has a store find button so that you can find what you are looking for. Once you’ve enter your data and picked whether you want online or in-store, the site will give you a list of where the collection is sold.
Fashion to Figure opened in 2002. They carry trendy clothing in sizes 12-26. Their prices range from around $10 to $50. Currently, there is a selection of knee-high gladiator sandals with wide calf widths. Right now, they are having a 50% off sale. It’s a great time to visit their site.
Figuresque specializes in trendy women’s clothing and lingerie, including plus size tops, jeans, dresses and lingerie up to size 6X. It’s a fun site where you can find things that you thought you wouldn’t be able to get like that long satin bridal robe or that really sexy Halloween costume that’s not just the same ole witch you’re used to finding. Want something to wear to the club? You’ll find it at Figuresque. Prices range up to about $60. (Note: There is a link to a jeans page which states that they go up to size 36, but I didn’t see any jeans).

This is where I would have put a link to Fredrick’s of Hollywood. I was all set to do that because I’ve read that they carry clothing up to size 34 and who doesn’t love the idea of a sexy night (in my case with The Dane)? So, I traipsed on over to their site to look around and found nothing. When I googled plus-size, about a half-dozen or so outfits showed up, but none of them went above an XL. I’m sorry, but I don’t consider an XL “regular” as plus, so I’m not going to link to them here. What I did find was an article about a plus-size blogger’s in-store shopping experience at Fredrick’s. You can read it here. On a more positive note, I did find another clothing site to add to the list, Curvy Girl Lingerie, which I will add to The Big List – C Edition as well.
I first discovered Forever 21 shopping with Chika. She and I went to a big mall in Georgia that I’d never been to before. It was a fun day. We started off at the bookstore with a cup of coffee from Starbucks. We laughed and joked the way I imagine most mom’s and daughter’s do on a relaxed Saturday. At some point, we found Forever 21. It was during the back to school rush and OMG that place was packed. I’d never seen so many teenage girls in such a frenzy. It was difficult to get to the racks and then it took forever for Chika to get into a dressing room. Truth is, I didn’t mind it. I loved the excitement. Loved being there with her modeling all her finds. While she was in the dressing room, I stumbled across the plus section. I was kind of surprised that the section was a big as it was and since it seemed to be geared toward teens, I assumed that nothing on the racks would fit me. Chicka found a cute top and told me to try it on. It was only a little snug, so she encouraged me to go up a size and to my surprise, it fit. When I saw the price, I was equally surprised.
Since then, Chika and I usually make a stop at “her” Forever 21 and I go to “mine” on a regular basis as well. I have to admit that some of the clothing is simply not meant for 50-year-old me. A lot of it looks great on my girls as they all like to shop there with me, but it takes me a little longer as I try to buy things a little more age appropriate for myself. That’s one of the best things about shopping there. All of us can find affordable clothing in one place at a price that won’t break the bank.
I definitely recommend giving Forever 21 a look. Usually, I give the browse the website before going to the store, that way, I have some idea what I’m looking for.
Freshpair is another lingerie site. If you have a hard time finding your bra size, this is the place for you. They sell up to size 54F. There is a large variety here if you are a DD or less. Selection gets much smaller the higher the cup size. Prices range from $20 to around $100.
Lifestyle brand that is manufactured in the USA. I think of the clothes here as easy, breezy. I believe that this laid back casual look is sometimes referred to as Resort wear. At any rate, it’s fun, super casual and looks comfortable. Sizing is up to XXL which is listed as a US20. Price ranges from $50 – $100.
Lingerie up to size 40K. Like the Fantasie site, Freya shows you the collection and has a store find button so that you can find what you are looking for. Once you’ve enter your data and picked out whether you want online or in-store, the site will give you a list of where the collection is sold.
Full Beauty is the largest plus-size site. They offer sizes 12 – 44. Their # is #OwnYourCurves. If you only had one site that you could choose, this one would probably be the one to pick. The selection is huge and it’s all in one place. Plus, the site is very user-friendly. If you want to find something by price, there’s an easy way to do that on the left hand side of the site. You can choose by color, by brand, by price and by how the garment is rated. Prices range from around $20 – $100. They also carry a big selection of wide calf boots. Review the shoppers club for extra benefits.
