My Life in the Fat Lane – Torrid Black Spinning Skirt
Find the song that inspired the title here.
When it gets warm out, I love to find a restaurant with outdoor seating. I equate that with what it must be like to stroll along in Paris. It has long been my dream to go to Paris with my husband and place a lock on the Pont des Arts bridge. Sadly, this practice will no longer be allowed. Apparently, the weight of the locks began to tear up the bridge. This article states that it is estimated that there were roughly 700,000 locks on the bridge which weighed about the same as 20 elephants. Egads!
I picked up this shirt last year at Ross (the label is Lavish Plus). The skirt is a recent purchase at Torrid, which they refer to as the spinning skirt. I’m 5’3, so I used to shy away from most skirts. This one can be used to play up proportions. By letting it fall at the natural waist, it becomes knee-length. A little higher and it becomes a mini. Also, there’s a slight taper to it, so it hangs just a bit longer in the back than the front, which I think makes it a little more flattering. The saleslady told me that this is the 2nd round on this skirt and that it is very hard to keep in stock. I’ve read some reviews that say the skirt runs a little large, but I found it more true to size. I paired this outfit with a pair of sandals from Impo, but I think it would also look great with boots.
