Another year has gone by and here we are at our anniversary again. Ten years. Traditionally, the tenth anniversary is celebrated with a gift of tin or aluminum. I couldn’t think of anything made from tin or aluminum that I’d want around the house, so I just told The Dane it would be fine to break with tradition. However, the Daffodil is the symbol of the tenth anniversary and just so happens to be my favorite (that and carnations) flower – hint, hint.
When I saw that, I thought about our first date. On that date, The Dane and I were going to dinner. Suddenly, he pulled the car over to the edge of the road. I had no idea what was going on. He wandered around in the field for a bit, occasionally bending over and picking something up. As he came back to the car, I realized that he had picked a small bouquet of wildflowers, which he tied together with grass blades. I think that was the sweetest gift I ever received. I knew in that moment that I would marry him one day.
Since that day, we have traveled the road together. There have been some downs, but looking back, the bright moments are what stand out in my mind. I consider myself the luckiest girl in the world to have found my perfect other half. I cherish the life we have built together and look forward to all the days to come.
Rick, this blog is for you, babe. I hope you know that I love you with all of my heart.
